OGDEN- Police booked a 20-year-old man into the Weber County Jail after a scuffle with officers. When booked, the man had bloody gauze taped to his head and his right eye was swollen shut.

Police were called to a home after a complaint about a loud party early Saturday. Investigators said Tyson James Dalton tried to leave when police showed up.

“The officers tried to stop him,” Ogden Police Lt. Scott Sangberg said. “Tyson grabbed officer (Shawn) Grogan by the jacket, then tried to assault officer (Clint) Christensen by backhanding him.”

Sangberg said Grogan ordered him to let go, but Dalton pulled him closer and a scuffle broke out. During the brief fight, police said punches and kicks were thrown.

“He was taken to the ground and continued to resist arrest,” Sangberg said.

Paramedics were summoned to the scene to bandage up Dalton. He was then booked into the Weber County Jail on investigation of interfering with arrest, unlawful possession and consumption of alcohol, assault on a police officer and a warrant.

The officers were not injured, aside from being scuffed up, Sangberg said.

The Ogden Police Department said it was conducting a review of the incident to make sure the officers’ actions were justified.
