INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A 22-year-old man has been charged with buying two guns for a convicted felon who used them to shoot two Indiana police officers.
A federal grand jury indicted Vincent D. Windell of New Albany on Wednesday.
Prosecutors say Windell bought a .45-caliber handgun and a .38-caliber revolver for 37-year-old Robert Datillo of Clarksville in December.
Authorities say Datillo used the guns to seriously wound two Jeffersonville police officers during a Feb. 19 ambush at a motel. Datillo killed himself the next day after a 10-hour standoff.
Windell is being held in the Clark County Jail. A U.S. attorney’s office spokeswoman says he does not yet have an attorney.
