NEW YORK — Authorities say two off-duty New York City police officers were killed and four women were injured when the car they were all riding in hit a guardrail in the city’s Bronx borough.
Police say the car was headed north on the Bronx River Parkway about 6:30 a.m. Sunday when it crashed.
The two officers, 32-year-old Kim Hoyoung and 25-year-old Edwin Paulino, were pronounced dead at the scene. The women were in serious but stable condition at a hospital. Their names have not been released.
Police say the crash is being investigated and would not comment on whether tests for drugs or alcohol were being conducted.
The two deaths come on the same day another NYPD officer was gravely injured when he was accidentally hit by a motorcycle while chasing suspects in a car theft.
