DENVER — Denver police were upset to find their memorial for fallen officers had been vandalized yet again, Denver Post reported.
The department’s memorial was smeared with red paint Sunday night, Chief Robert White told the publication.
“That memorial really represents the men and women who have given their lives for this community. To deface it is just a dishonor,” White said. “I really felt sick.”
The monument sits outside of the department and lists the names of more than 70 city officers who died in the line of duty.
The mayor spoke out about the “despicable act.”
“To show such utter disrespect for the people who have given their lives in the line of duty to protect ours is unconscionable,” Mayor Michael Hancock said.
The same time last year, protesters dumped red paint on the memorial. Two men were arrested on felony accusations in the case.
While no arrests have been made this time, the memorial is under video surveillance.
