JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — A Johnson City man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he ran over a Carter County sheriff’s deputy with his car, prompting a police chase from Carter County to Washington County, police said.
According to Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes, Damien Christopher Slocum, 27, 6248 Kingsport Highway, was stopped in a small, white vehicle by Deputy Nick Andes for a minor traffic violation and while Andes was checking Slocum’s license he “jumps back in his car and literally backed over the officer.”
Slocum was taken to Carter County Jail where he was being held without bond on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, felony evading arrest, second offense of driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license and leaving the scene of an accident with personal injuries.
