NEW ALBANY, Miss. — A robbery suspect is facing more charges after headbutting and breaking a deputy’s nose while he was being escorted to court.
Daniel Stewart Berry, 21, was being escorted to court Feb. 9 when he became combative and headbutted the Union County Deputy, WPTV reported.
Berry was originally detained for robbing a store on Feb. 7. He allegedly put a female store clerk in a headlock and grabbed $20 from the register, police told the news station.
Authorities said Berry assaulted a jail worker who brought him dinner Feb. 8. WJTV reported Berry had taken the drug known as “gravel.” According to The International Business Times, gravel is a term for Flakka, a synthetic drug similar to crystal meth.
Berry is charged with one count of strong armed robbery and two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer.
