EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — An ex-con led police on a two-state pursuit after stealing a flatbed truck, The Journal News reported.
The pursuit began after officers spotted Paul T. Gudanowski, 50, driving the stolen flatbed.
Two New York State troopers were injured after being sideswiped by the flatbed during the pursuit, which involved multiple agencies.
The 43-minute pursuit ended shortly after a New Jersey police car became hooked on the rear bumper of the flatbed. The officer was dragged half a mile, but sustained no injuries. The two troopers who were sideswiped earlier in the pursuit suffered neck injuries and were treated and released.
Police said Gudanowski’s record dates back to the early 1990s, involving aggravated assault, burglary, and criminal trespassing.
