RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Riverside police received a new vehicle honoring those who have lost their lives in the line of duty, thanks to local businesses and a former racecar driver.
The Drive reported that former racecar driver Steve Saleen approached the department with the idea of a line of duty death memorial vehicle.

The community worked with Saleen to build the Saleen S302. The vehicle is complete with a V8 engine, police decals and emergency lights.
“This is one of the fastest police vehicles ever built. It is one of the most exciting projects Saleen Automotive has been involved in,” Saleen told Market Wired. “If you are attempting to elude the police in the Riverside Department’s jurisdiction, beware; your chances of getting away are quite slim.”
But the vehicle won’t be used to catch suspects, it will be used to raise awareness of the risks officers face every day and for those who have lost their lives, the department wrote on Facebook.
