Passenger side approaches

When you stop a vehicle, turn on every available take down and spotlight you have on and shine it inside on their rearview mirror and driver’s side mirror. They will be unable to see you exit. When you do exit your car, walk around behind your car(always watching for traffic)and walk up to the suspect car on the passenger side. Walking around behind your car and coming up on the other side prevents you from walking across your spot light and allowing the driver to spot you. Use your flashlight to check the interior of the subject’s vehicle before you initiate contact with the driver. With all of the light that you have already put inside of the car, they are not going to notice the flashlight. Also, 9 times out of 10, they will be watching for you to come up on the driver’s side and not paying any attention to the passenger side. If there is a passenger, you will obviously need to alter you approach a little. You’ll be amazed at what you see the driver doing or trying to hide in the center console or under the passenger seat.
