LYNWOOD, Calif. — A young girl’s wish to get a Christmas tree for the holidays came true thanks to L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies.

KNBC reports that deputies were called to the neighborhood where 11-year-old Andrea Rodriguez lives. While on the road, Rodriguez flagged them down and asked about a program the department had for families in need during the holidays.

Rodriguez’s father is the only person in her household who works. The family didn’t have enough money for a Christmas tree, so the girl wrote a letter to police asking if they could assist her with getting one. Her little sister had never had a Christmas tree before.

The deputies, touched by the girl’s letter and determination, picked up a seven-foot Noble fir tree along with lights and ornaments. On their way to deliver the tree, they radioed all units to join them.

“All the partners came with us and we presented it and the joy and tears that came out of their eyes was unexplainable,” Deputy Pedro Valencia said.
