ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A non-profit group has unveiled a new calendar inspired by a police officer who was shot in the line of duty.
KTUU reports that the “Behind the Badge” calendar took inspiration from Officer Arn Salao, who was shot multiple times last November. The idea behind the calendar is for people to get to know their local police officers outside of their job.
“We picked 15 officers to highlight and you’ll see them on each page of the calendar, basically, it has a picture of them, what they do outside of police work and a bio about the things they’re passionate about,” Anchorage Cops for Community chairperson Angelina Fraize said.
Each month features photos of officers coaching, fishing, welding, playing sports and engaging in other personal interests.
Fraize said the calendars cost $20 and all of the proceeds will go to the nonprofit group, whose mission is to strengthen the bond between cops and the communities they serve.
