LOS ANGELES — The family of a man fatally shot by LA police on the 101 freeway has filed a $120 milion claim against the city of Los Angeles.

Abdul Arian told dispatchers he had a gun and wanted to hurt police, according to NBC Los Angeles.

“If they pull their guns, I’m going to have to pull my gun out on them,” Arian said during the call last Wednesday.

Arian took an aggressive stance and pointed something at officers following a chase through the west San Fernando Valley, but was later found to be unarmed when he was shot.

Police confirmed Arian had once been in the Los Angeles Police Department Explorer Academy but was removed for disciplinary reasons.
