ASHLAND, Ore. — A 15-year-old Washington boy is behind bars after police say he led troopers from two states on a 45-mile pursuit at speeds that topped 100 mph.
Oregon State Police say the chase began Friday morning when a California Highway Patrol officer tried to stop a 1991 Geo Metro for speeding on Interstate 5 north of Yreka.
Police say the driver led them on a high-speed chase into Oregon before officers used spike strips to deflate one tire. Three miles later, police say, the driver pulled over and was taken into custody.
Authorities say the Woodland, Wash., teenager was driving a car registered to his sister, and his parents have been notified. Authorities aren’t identifying the boy because he hasn’t been charged as an adult. He faces juvenile felony charges.
