Mississippi: Pearl’s police chief says the officer shot in the leg is doing well. He is the first officer ever shot in the line of duty in that city. “The fourth shot hit our officer in the leg. The shield man got in front of the officer to protect him and dragged the officer out,” said Chief Bill Slade. (I cannot imagine what would cause a SWAT Team these days to NOT use ballistics shields. Ours have saved our butts on more than one occasion and we have heard back from at least two departments who send officers to our SWAT schools that their officers have been saved by a shield stopping rounds fired at them)
California: Extended police family mourns inexplicable loss.
