CHARLESTON, W.V. (AP) -- A Logan County, West Va. drug bust and successful federal prosecution has netted law enforcement agencies in three counties nearly $170,000 in forfeited money.
Jody Butcher, 37, of Logan was sentenced last month to nearly nine years in prison after pleading guilty in December 2003 to conspiracy to distributed Oxycontin and other drugs in the Troy area of Logan County between 2001 and Oct. 8, 2003. He also was required to forfeit $212,513.
U.S. Attorney Casey Warner announced Wednesday that $116,748.87 of that was given to the U.S. 119 Violent Crime and Drug Task Force, which investigated Butcher’s case.
The Logan County Prosecuting Attorney’s office and Boone County Sheriff’s Department each received $21,227.07. The Charleston Police Department received $10,613.53.
