BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. — As a reward for winning an essay contest, a middle schooler got to be a police chief for a day, WGN9 reported.

Camilla Dzikowski was armed with a radar gun, tickets and donuts and given a desk in the Buffalo Grove Police Department station, according to the report. Dzikowski won by explaining how cool it would be to become a police officer, beating out hundreds of other students.

“When I found out I won, I was so happy,” Dzikowski said. “I couldn’t believe it.”

Dzikowski’s term as chief briefly pushed Chief Brian Budds out of office, according to the report.

“Here I am standing outside my office,” Chief Brian Budds said. “Hopefully I am allowed back in. So far, my name is still there so I think I am in good shape.”
