Va. police officer dies of on-duty medical emergency

FAIRFAX, Va. — A Fairfax City Police sergeant died after suffering a medical emergency while on duty on New Year’s Eve.
WUSA reports Sgt. George Moskowitz suffered the medical emergency at Fairfax City Police headquarters. One of Moskowitz’s colleagues walked into the men’s locker room and found him unresponsive. EMS medics and Moskowitz’s colleagues responded but were unable to revive him.

WJLA reports Moskowitz was an eight-year veteran with the FCPD and had previously served 25 years with the Fairfax County Police Department. In a press release, FCPD officials described Moskowitz as a mentor, role model and “genuinely nice guy.”
