KIEV, Ukraine — An Olympic gold medal wrestler fought seven police officers when they tried to arrest him for drunk driving, 9news reported.

Officers stopped Ukrainian wrestler Vyacheslav Oliynyk on April 27 for suspected DUI, but he began to argue with police and it escalated into a struggle. Oliynyk had been celebrating his 50th birthday and his son was in the vehicle during the incident.

“I’m partly guilty because I did not stop and I was ignoring the police,” Oliynik told the news site.

Oliynyk rose to fame during the 1996 Olympics when he won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman light heavyweight division at 90 kilograms, according to Sports Illustrated.
