Solution to blind spot on crown vic

I’ve accidentally found a way to eliminate most of the blind spot on the drivers side of a Crown Vic:

I hate the way the spotlight sits on the Crown Vic. It falls in the way if it’s turned in against the windshield. I always turn it out and up at a weird angle, to “hide” it from the “A” pillar. Most of my patrol is done during the day, so I don’t really use the spot anyway.

In doing so, I discovered that the back of the spotlight (ours are black)-- the bulbous housing of the light -- provides a great reflection around the drivers side of the vehicle. It is great for lane changes, as we all know there is a huge blindspot on the Crown Vic.

It is also great for when you are parked, doing paperwork, or observing activity in your area. I’ve been able to see numerous people approaching my cruiser for directions, and observe people behind me while sitting at lights, parked in lots, etc.
