SALEM, Ore. — A K-9 was wounded Friday during a shootout with police that resulted in a standoff.
The Oregonian reports police responded to calls of a suspicious vehicle outside a Walmart. The man fled from officers, barricaded himself inside an RV and began firing shots at police, striking a K-9 once as officers returned fire.
The K-9 was treated and released as officers continued to engage in a standoff with the suspect.

SWAT and crisis negotiators responded to the scene and the area was placed on lockdown.
The suspect, who has a warrant out for his arrest, reportedly fired at officers multiple times as they attempted to negotiate.
Police shot multiple rounds of tear gas into the RV before the suspect exited the vehicle. The suspect, who was wounded in the confrontation, was taken into custody after seven hours.
