AURORA, Colo. -- One suspect was shot and killed and another injured Friday when police chased a stolen truck that rammed other vehicles, including patrol cars, authorities said.
Officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave while an investigation was conducted. An officer who was injured when he used his patrol car to ram and stop the truck was treated at the scene.
The names of the suspects and officers weren’t released.
Police said they were trying to determine how many shots were fired during the chase and whether the suspects shot at officers.
The chase started at 4:15 p.m. when officers tried to stop a stolen truck, police said. The truck took off and was spotted on Interstate 225, where the driver deliberately ran into other vehicles, police said.
The chase led to an apartment complex, where the truck rammed into vehicles, including patrol cars. Police said the truck stopped briefly after an officer ran his car into it.
The passenger jumped out of the truck at that point. Police caught the man, who suffered minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital.
After the truck took off again, shots were fired and the driver was fatally wounded, police said.
