WALLKILL, N.Y. - An anti-government activist with a criminal history has been shot and wounded during a stand-off with police.

Anthony Russo was shot in the driveway of his Hudson Valley home yesterday after leading officers on a pursuit from a convenience store.

Police received a call from the store clerk who said Russo threatened him. The clerk believed Russo was drunk and refused to sell him alcohol. Police say Russo then pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot the clerk.

Police arrived on the scene just as Russo was pulling out and tried to pull him over but he led officers on a chase.

Russo is in stable condition at the Westchester Medical Center.

He’s charged with attempted first-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon and driving while intoxicated.
