Police in England reprimanded a man whose “emergency” call for help was deemed to be an abuse of the system after he called to complain about an unattractive prostitute.
The man, apparently displeased with the woman he had solicited after seeing her advertisement in the classified section of a local newspaper, told emergency operators he “wished to report her for breaching the Sale of Goods Act.”
England’s ‘Sale of Goods Act’ stipulates that “goods must be of satisfactory quality, be fit for purpose, and match the sellers’ description,” according to a report by the Daily Mirror.
In the audio, the caller can be heard claiming that the woman had “misrepresented herself” when she arranged to meet him for sex. Upon meeting her, he said he was no longer interested, and she reportedly “hurled his car keys at him and stormed off from their meeting place outside a hotel,” the report said.
A call center officer in Birmingham informed the man that it was he who had broken the law by soliciting for sex. Although he declined to identify himself during the call, police were able to determine who he is and have reportedly sent him a sternly-worded note warning him about wasting police time, which is punishable by up to six months jail, according to the article.
