(SEATTLE) – Investigators have identified a body found in a wooded area near a highway as a young woman who vanished New Year’s Eve.
Anitra Mulwee, 24, who grew up in Puyallup, Wash., was last seen in downtown Seattle. Her remains were found March 7, but identification was difficult because the teeth did not match the dental records of any listed missing persons. The King County Sheriff’s Department was eventually able to get a partial fingerprint from tissue remaining on the skeleton.
Mulwee’s death remains a mystery. The county medical examiner has not been able to determine whether she was killed violently or died of natural causes. A driver who broke down on Highway 18 near Auburn spotted the skeletal remains.
