Fla. Woman Gets 10 Years For Cruiser Theft, Sheriff Threat

The Associated Press

SHALIMAR, Fla. -- A woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for stealing a sheriff deputy’s cruiser, crashing it and then pointing a shotgun at Okaloosa County Sheriff Charlie Morris.

Jessalynn Mae Harness received her sentence yesterday. She’ll also be on probation for five years after her release from prison.

She pleaded no contest last month to grand theft auto, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and escape in exchange for the sentence cap.

The 10-year sentence was part of a plea deal; otherwise, she could have faced 30 years.
