A 21-year-old man was shot dead in the backyard of his mother’s Warminster house this morning, as he fled police while firing at them, Bucks County First Assistant District Attorney David W. Zellis said.
Shortly after 6:45 a.m., Sean Sullivan climbed out a back window of the one-story bungalow and as he ran, he was hit by police gunfire, Zellis said.
“As he was climbing over a back fence,” Zellis said, “Sean succumbed.”
Warminster police were serving an Abington Township arrest warrant on his mother, Carol Sullivan, 46, at about 6:30 a.m., Zellis said.
But they also discovered Sean Sullivan, for whom there was an outstanding March 15 arrest warrant from Bucks County, Zellis said.
Sean Sullivan told the police that he was armed, the police removed Carol Sullivan from the house and the police barricaded the neighborhood, Zellis said.
Neither Zellis nor Warminster Police Chief Michael Murphy, at a news conference near the Sullivan house, on Chestnut Street near Henry Avenue, could say how many shots had been fired by Sullivan and the police.
