(HONOLULU) -- A motorcyclist shot and wounded by a police officer had drugs and drug paraphernalia in his fanny pack but was not carrying a weapon.
A police spokeswoman told the Honolulu Advertiser that the 34-year-old man was also carrying a “large sum of cash.” The 29-year-old officer told investigators that he fired a single shot after he saw the man reaching into his fanny pack.
The incident early Sunday began when the officer went to the Mililani Town Center to investigate a report of an attempted robbery with a gun. When the officer discovered that the motorcycle had been reported stolen, the operator fled on the bike.
The shooting occurred at a construction site a short distance away.
