(MONTEREY, Calif.) – A paroled rapist could face the death penalty for abducting, sexually assaulting and killing two college students.

A jury in Monterey County found Rex Krebs guilty Monday of two counts of murder and seven more felony counts. A penalty hearing is scheduled to begin April 17.

Krebs’ lawyer put on no defense during the trial. He had confessed to the killings of Rachel Newhouse, 20, and Aundria Crawford, 20, and led police to their graves on his property in San Luis Obispo. Newhouse disappeared while walking home from a bar, while Crawford was kidnapped from her home.
