NEW YORK — A New York Daily News article reports an NYPD officer stopped a Dutch tourist riding her bicycle because she donned a too-short skirt.

The woman, Jasmijn Rijcken, told the Daily News that the police officer described her outfit as “disturbing,” “distracting,” and “dangerous.”

According to the article, at first, she surely thought it was a joke, but that the matter seemed more serious when she was asked to produce identification.

The officer, who has not been identified, did not issue a ticket, but Rijcken, baffled by the entire encounter, returned to her hotel room and changed into pants.

“I didn’t want to get into trouble again,” she stated.

When asked about the incident, NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said the truth of what happened “is impossible to establish” because no one has been able to come forth with the officer’s name to confirm or deny the exchange.
