LAKE WORTH, Fla. — A 27-year-old Boynton Beach man concerned that police would find marijuana in his car has plenty more to worry about after he allegedly tried to elude officers Thursday night.

Ryan M. Brogen is accused of fleeing police, marijuana possession of less than 20 grams, resisting an officer without violence and destroying evidence.

He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on Friday morning after posting $8,000 bond.

According to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, deputies tried to pull over Brogen after he failed to stop while making a right turn at a red light in the 6100 block of Jog Road, just south of Lantana Road.

After pulling over, Brogen backed his SUV into the front bumper of the deputy’s patrol truck before speeding off north on Jog Road, the arrest report said.

Brogen didn’t come to a halt until he crashed into a stop sign at Moonbeam Drive and Brentwood Boulevard, the report said. Brogen got out of the car and threw a clear plastic bag containing a “green leafy substance” into hedges next to his SUV, deputies said. A field test verified that the substance was marijuana.

Brogen told police that “he was scared and didn’t want to get into trouble for marijuana.”
