CHULA VISTA — A robbery suspect in a motorized wheelchair led police on a pursuit that stretched from Chula Vista to downtown San Diego Tuesday.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, reportedly stole items from a Kmart, and threatened someone with a gun in the parking lot when he was confronted for stealing.
The suspect got into a maroon van with disabled plates and fled the scene, leading Chula Vista police on a pursuit that ended in the San Diego Police Department’s headquarters parking lot.
Officers say they saw him load a gun and come out of the vehicle in his motorized wheelchair.
A K-9 unit was deployed to assist police in getting the man into custody and to inspect the vehicle for other possible suspects.
Two loaded handguns and a pair of brass knuckles were recovered from the van, according to the report.
