HOUSTON — Police carried out an undercover operation to nab one of their own... as he stole other officers’ lunches from the station fridge.
The detectives set up a hidden CCTV camera to catch Kevin Yang pinching energy drinks and sandwiches brought in by his colleagues.
Confronted with the evidence, Officer Yang claimed he had been “cleaning” the fridge and “getting rid of unwanted food” at the station in Houston, Texas.
But police chief Greg Grigg ruled he was bang to rights, saying: “When you’re not putting anything in and you’re taking things out, it became clear to us he was taking things knowingly and against the law.”
Still protesting his innocence, Yang has now been placed on a 30-day suspension and is facing a theft charge.
