A Delaware woman who demanded that state troopers take her to jail was later charged with resisting arrest, according to police.

About 6 a.m. Saturday at the Super Lodge Motel, in New Castle, troopers responding to a complaint were approached by Teiera Rider, 20, who cursed at them while “demanding” to be taken to jail, police said.

When she refused to calm down, troopers said, they heeded her wishes and placed her under arrest.

But instead of going quietly, Rider allegedly kicked and spit at troopers as they did exactly what she’d asked them to do - arrest her.

A Delaware State Police spokesman said that Rider may have wanted to be arrested because a bench warrant had been issued for her, stemming from a 2010 car accident during which she allegedly spit on a Wilmington police officer.

Rider, who is under the 21-year-old legal drinking age in Delaware, was also found to have consumed alcohol before Saturday’s incident, police said.

She was charged with resisting arrest, offensive touching of law-enforcement officers, criminal mischief, underage drinking and disorderly conduct.
