SAN ANTONIO — About 30 sheriffs from southwestern states are meeting in San Antonio to discuss new technology that can help law enforcement secure the border.
Representatives from U.S. Border Patrol are also attending the 2-day meeting of the Southwest Border Sheriff’s Coalition.
Steve McCraw, Homeland Security director for Texas, says he is stressing in his speech the importance of unity in securing the border. That means making sure that sheriffs and federal agencies are in contact and exchanging information about security threats.
