SAN FRANCISCO — Police worked early Monday morning to control crowds of people celebrating the city’s World Series win against the Detroit Tigers the night before.
San Francisco police officers called to the Mission district around 12:34 a.m. told cheering revelers gathered in the roadway to leave, citing an “unlawful assembly,” according to the SF Appeal. Video footage shot at the scene shows piles of burning debris dot the street party, where at least one person was arrested.
“Obviously the crowd is celebrating and spilling over into the streets, so we’re making sure everybody stays safe and nobody gets injured,” Officer Carlos Manfredi told the SF Appeal.
City officials closed a few major roads, where traffic delays stalled transport. Residents were advised not to drive unless necessary.
