You probably remember recent news reports about the military using Silly String to identify trip wires. As P1 member Thad Pickard with Hutchinson (KS) PD reminds us, that application can work for law enforcement as well. Drug and gang houses have been known to be laced with trip wires. When searching an area where these could potentially be laying in wait, you can use Silly String and shoot it across rooms and doorways. When you spray the string, it spreads a wide web and can catch on a wire without applying enough pressure to set it off. Even in a dark room the string stands out revealing the trip wire.
