When was the last time you entered a gym, ran a mile in under 6 or 7 minutes, or threw down for some pushups or sit-ups?
How about a day at the range or do some dry-fire drills? What about your weapon-clearing drills?
Did you work out recently on a heavy bag or snap open your baton? Are you in any shape for a two-minute drill against an opponent bigger or heavier than you or any size?
Can you get out of your vehicle fast enough to seek cover and engage a threat?
Is your cardio OK, your strength training up to par?
Answer these questions honestly and be truthful with yourself about your condition.
Start sweating now or just maybe you will be bleeding later. Oh, if you won’t do it for you, do it for your family and fellow officers.
The life you save might be your own.
Good luck.
God can only do so much — some things are left up to us.
