CHICKASHA, Okla. — Two police officers were shot Sunday afternoon while serving a warrant, and the man who shot them was arrested.

Authorities did not immediately release the names of those involved.

About 3 p.m., the officers were serving a warrant at a home in Chickasha when they were shot. The shooter barricaded himself in the home near U.S. 81 between W Almar Drive and W Country Club Road, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lt. Kera Philippi said.

The extent of the officers’ injuries was not reported, but they were both taken from the scene for treatment, Philippi said.

One of the officers was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said in a news release.

The man being served with the warrant also was wounded by gunfire, the OSBI said. He surrendered Sunday evening.

The highway patrol sent a tactical team, aircraft and a negotiator to the scene, Philippi said.

A portion of U.S. 81 was closed for two hours and 23 minutes during the standoff.

OSBI agents spent Sunday night collecting evidence. The district attorney will decide what, if any, charges will be filed.

Chickasha is a city of about 16,000 and the county seat of Grady County.
