SAN DIEGO — A San Diego police officer facing DUI charges was found dead in his backyard Monday.
The wife of Officer David Hall called police and said her husband had committed suicide, and when police arrived, they noticed that his gunshot wound appeared to be self-inflicted, sources say.
Hall, 41, had been a motorcycle officer for his department for 14 years. He had pleaded not guilty to charges of hit and run and intoxicated driving following a February car accident that left one person injured, according to the Mercury News. He was off duty and allegedly fled the scene after striking another car.
Hall was on paid administrative leave at the time of his death.
