LORDSBURG, N.M. — New Mexico police released dash cam footage of a pursuit and shootout with a Mississippi suspect wanted for murder, WLOX reported.
The suspect, 24-year-old D’Juan Holloway, was wanted for shooting and killing a teenager in January 2015. He took off in the victim’s car and was arrested in New Mexico after a BOLO was put out.
Police tracked Holloway with the victim’s phone, which was still in the car. He refused to pull over for police and a high-speed pursuit ensued. Holloway reached speeds of 110 miles per hour while shooting at officers out of the car window.
A gun battle erupted after police used spike strips to stop Holloway’s vehicle. The suspect was shot several times in his side and arm. He was taken to jail after recovering at a hospital.
Mississippi authorities have attempted to extradite Holloway for murder charges, but were denied by New Mexico police. Holloway also refused extradition. Mississippi officials are now soliciting the governor for an extradition warrant.
