BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Dash cam footage has been released of a shooting incident involving a teen carrying a replica gun.
Officers responded to reports of a man carrying a gun in front of a party store last November.
The video depicts an officer firing at the teen after ordering him to show his hands.
According to WWMT, Officer Esteban Rivera hit 14-year-old Nicholas King in the shoulder.
Police later discovered the gun was a replica that had been painted black. The shooting was ruled as justified in December, the Battle Creek Enquirer reports.
Despite the ruling, King’s family plans to move forward with a lawsuit.
