NEW BRUNSWICK, Canada — A K-9 whose officer was killed in a shooting in New Brunswick last week said a final goodbye at a funeral ceremony Tuesday.
According to Global News, the K-9, Danny, worked with Const. Dave Ross, who was a K-9 handler.
Ross “took a lot of pride” in his job as a handler – his family citing his love of tracking and hunting that led him to the position, according to the report.
One reporter at the ceremony reported hearing the dog “whining” as the officer’s casket was being carried into the building.
The 32-year-old officer is survived by his wife and son, with another child on the way.
