Relate: Developing an off-duty plan
VISTA, Calif. — A woman who was shot by an off-duty San Diego police officer after a traffic dispute has been booked into county jail on an unrelated drunken driving conviction.
A spokesman for the district attorney’s office says Rachel Silva began serving her 30-day term Monday after pleading guilty in January to misdemeanor drunken driving.
In March, Silva was shot twice in the arm by Officer Frank White at a mall parking lot in Oceanside, north of San Diego, after a near-accident on a busy street.
Silva claims White pulled up next to her car and began shooting as she reversed to get away. White told investigators he believed she was trying to run him down.
The officer also struck Silva’s 8-year-old son in the passenger seat.
