BUFFALO, Okla. — A Harper County reserve deputy was killed in a crash shortly after midnight Sunday, according to reports.

Reserve Deputy Charlie Coen, 57, was responding to an emergency assistance call in Laverne when his patrol car left Highway 64 and struck several bales of hay, The Officer Down Memorial Page reported.

As a result of the collision, Coen became trapped inside his Dodge Charger, which caught fire. Rescue personnel spent three hours extricating him from the vehicle.
