HOUSTON — A Houston police officer has been relieved of duty after she was arrested on a felony drug charge Wednesday, an HPD official said Thursday.

Traci M. Tennarse, 29, was arrested in the 11900 block of the East Freeway shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday following an investigation by HPD’s Internal Affairs Division, said department spokesman Gabe Ortiz.

She is charged with delivery of marijuana, 5 to 50 pounds, a second degree felony, Ortiz said.

Tennarse was sworn in as a Class B officer in Jan. 2006, Ortiz said. She works in an administrative capacity with HPD’s Identification Division, “checking finger prints of all suspects arrested and brought through the city jail,” he said.

Tennarse, who is due to appear in court Friday, is being held in a Harris County jail on $34,000 bail.

She has been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of HPD’s ongoing investigation, Ortiz said.
