STROTHER, Okla. — A volunteer firefighter in Oklahoma died after a fight with another firefighter at the firehouse, according to reports.
Few details have been released about the altercation on Thursday, but authorities said no arrests have been made. The victim was identified was Dale Patterson, 56.
Seminole County Sheriff Shannon Smith said Patterson was transported to the OU Medical Center but died from his injuries.
Strother Fire Chief Nicholas Nadeau told KOCO that Patterson joined the department in 2007. Patterson was captain at the department and also served as its chaplain.
“He showed great leadership, great personality,” Chief Nadeau said.
Patterson previously worked as a drug enforcement officer in New Mexico before moving to Oklahoma to retire, according to the report. The name of the other firefighter involved in the fight has not been released.
