WESTMINSTER, Md. — A man will spend a year behind bars for assaulting a Maryland State Police trooper in a Wal-Mart bathroom following a road rage encounter.
The Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office said in a news release that 20-year-old Steven Conners was found guilty Monday of second-degree assault and sentenced to five years in prison. All but one of the years were suspended.
Prosecutors said Conners and his mother Traci Conners attacked Trooper Johnathan Horner in November as he tried to arrest Steven Conners’ brother, Jacob Conners, inside a Mount Airy Wal-Mart bathroom.
Authorities say Jacob Conners had fled to try to flush brass knuckles and a knife down a toilet after attacking Horner. The trooper had been investigating a road rage incident in which troopers say Traci Conners attacked a bystander.
