Camden police claim the teen ordered the dog to bite the officer when he attempted to make an arrest

CAMDEN, N.J. — Authorities allege a Camden teen who ran from police commanded his mother’s dog to attack officers inside the family’s Waterfront South home. But Thomas Wright, 19, and his family contend he gave Missy, a pregnant mixed-breed pit bull, no such instructions.

The accounts vary, but two things are certain: The dog bit an officer’s leg and Wright is facing criminal charges — including aggravated assault on a police officer.

Police allege Wright “repeatedly commanded a pit bull in the house to attack (two officers) by pointing at the officers and yelling ‘sic ’em.’ ”

Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson commended the officers for displaying “extreme poise and restraint” during the incident.
