PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A veteran came to a deputy’s aid after the officer was attacked by a man threatening family members.
Deputy Jessie Larkin responded to a domestic disturbance call Monday where Jordan Caraballo, 20, was acting violent toward family members, FOX 13 reported.
When Larkin approached Caraballo, he told him to put his hands on the wall. Caraballo resisted and began fighting the deputy.
“I was able to get him down, control his head so he wouldn’t throw me and that’s when he started punching me in the abdomen,” Larkin told WFLA. “It was probably 20 seconds, but it felt like 10 minutes,” Larkin said.

Air Force veteran and neighbor Ray Johnson saw the fight break out and jumped into help.
“My training kicked and I was like, ‘This is not going to happen on my watch,’ so I bolted over there,” Johnson told FOX 13.
Larkin and Johnson detained Caraballo, who is now facing four felonies and one misdemeanor charge.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook that they are “grateful for our community support and that you all have our backs when we need you!”
“I didn’t jump in because the officer needed assistance. I jumped in because I wanted to help the officer in the confrontation,” Johnson said. “I have the utmost respect for law enforcement officers. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
