TARRANT COUNTY, Texas – Two bystanders came to the aid of an officer who was assaulted while trying to make an arrest.

A school resource officer was summoned by two civilians Tuesday and informed of a possible aggravated assault, according to CBS DFW.

The officer located the suspect, 22-year-old Wahib Sadek, and initiated a traffic stop. Sadek got out of his vehicle and aggressively approached the officer.

After ignoring commands to stop, the officer and Sadek got into a physical altercation. As the officer attempted to subdue Sadek, two bystanders stepped in to help take the suspect into custody.

Police later found several firearms inside the suspect’s car. Sadek faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and assaulting a public servant.

The FBI was also contacted after Sadek told officers he was affiliated with the Islamic State terror group. An investigation into that claim is ongoing.
